I attended the Norfolk Makers Festival at the Forum on Friday and Sunday. I and 3 other Scoliosis Association UK members were posing for people to sketch us. The aim was to raise awareness of Scoliosis. It’s slowly getting out there as my PA Vicki was speaking to a few school children who happen to mention they learnt about King Richard and he having the condition.
Although those children had heard of scoliosis but it is still not being screened in schools. If they were, they may not have problems later in life.
The Norfolk Makers Festival continues until the 24th February at the Forum in Norwich. There are many activities going on including drawing, embroidery, pottery and much more. Visit www.norfolkmakersfestival.co.uk It’s well worth a visit
The organising committee of Norfolk Disability Pride took place on Monday 4th. Adding to my list of chair positions I’ll be chairing future meetings. The date of this year’s event is Sunday 29th September, so put it your diaries. We are building on the success of last year’s event.
On Wednesday The Lost Voice Guy was at the Norwich Playhouse. I went with friends to see him. Well worth going. A little cock up on my part. I arrived and my the manager checked my ticket and said, oh that’s for last night! Oh shit! Second time since living in Norfolk I’ve done that. But they were very accommodating.
I attended the inaugural meeting of the Direct Payment Support Services advisory group at Norfolk County Council. This is to monitor the Payroll, Employment services that are being taken back in house from 1st April.
I’m being open minded about this.
