Happy belated new year.
It’s not worth me making New Years resolutions as I don’t seem to keep them. I remember last year I said I’d do a blog on a weekly basis. It didn’t last long did it?!
Anyway this week has been interesting.
I met up with the Disnet group, our annual get together to reminisce of our trips we done together. This was a project where we researched travel for disabled people and their Carers. It was a 3 year funded project where we teamed up with groups in France, Greece and Estonia.
Sadly Mike Hough who led the project passed away last year.
On Wednesday was Making it Real meeting. A very productive meeting. We had a presentation on the new Direct Payment Support services provided by Norfolk County Council from April.
And on Friday, Living Well Workshop. As a member of Making it Real Board and a service user of Adult Social care (ASC), I was invited to a workshop given to all staff at ASC on Living Well initiative. This was the launch of a new way ASC will be working in the future to promote independence. It will be phased in from February. I guess it remains to be seen how this will pan out but let’s give it a chance.
Same with the Direct Payments. I was dismayed that Equal Lives will no longer be providing Payroll or Employment Support services from April. But let’s give the new Direct Payment support services a chance and see if they can provide the same quality service as Equal Lives.
Looking to the future, later this year, planning is underway for my 10th anniversary Coast to Coast ride from Bowness on Solway to South shields. You can read more about it here http://www.martinsymons.co.uk/10th-anniversary-c2c-2019/
If you know of a company/business that would be interested in supporting me please let me know. You can email me at email@example.com
Until the next time……..
